Calculating the ROI of a SOA Project
Calculating the ROI of a SOA Project

February 16, 2009

Let’s understand the most challenging and hence most debated process in the SOA space, calculating the ROI. It is challenging not because calculating ROI is difficult but because it is incorrect to calculate ROI over a project. Ideally SOA is spread across projects throughout the organization and across time. It’s a concept and a mindset to do the things right at the first place. With that said, ROI forms an essential component to trigger an IT initiative for SOA, as fund providers and sponsors seek ROI before starting such an initiative. This paper touches various aspects of ROI for SOA project/initiative. Various questions like why ROI? Is ROI possible for initiatives like SOA that are more intangible in nature? If yes, how shall we go ahead?
